Can stop Acrobat from telling me "What's New"?

New Here ,
Oct 02, 2023 Oct 02, 2023

This is driving me crazy. After this last update, the "What's New" window keeps opening whenever I launch Acrobat, and it just slows everything down. Which, is so annoying when I just need to open a PDF. And it makes me look like a bananahead when I'm trying to share a PDF on a meeting, and have to mess around with these crazy windows. Literally wasting everyone's time. Acrobat is one of my favorite programs because it's so easy, it's fast, I don't have to worry about any nonsense. Why would I? I'm just looking at a PDF! Please tell me there is a way to turn this off. I appreciate the updates, and I know you have to let people know what they are, but the incessant pop ups have to stop. Send me an email blast. Whatever it takes. I'm begging you.

If there is a way to turn all of that off, please, someone let me know.

Adobe Support - suggested this and it worked.  open regedit - get to this area

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Policies\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat\DC\FeatureLockDown

Please add a dword here in the right side by right-clicking and selecting DWORD(32-bit). Rename the Dword created as bToggleFTE and set the value of it to 1 and let me know when it is done.

Well it stopped working for me.  Here is what I did for it to finally work.

  • Click on Run and type regedit then get to this area:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Policies\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat\DC\FeatureLockDown

I added a dword on the right side by right-clicking and selecting DWORD(32-bit). Rename the Dword created as bWhatsNewExp and then I right-clicked and choose Modify and added 1 for the value data.

  • I added another dword on the right side by right-clicking and selecting DWORD(32-bit). Rename the Dword created as bTryNewExp and then I right-clicked and choose Modify and added 1 for the value data.
  • Then I did this below:
  • Find Adobe Acrobat in your Programs. Right click the program icon, click 'Properties'.
  • Click the 'Compatibility' tab >  under 'Compatibility mode' > the 'Run this program in compatibility mode for: Windows 7' I checked the box and clicked "Apply".
  • Then I Clicked the 'Compatibility' tab >  under 'Compatibility mode' > the 'Run this program in compatibility mode for: Windows 8' I checked the box and clicked "Apply".
  • I unchecked the box and then clicked 'Apply'.

It FINALLY WORKS NOW!!! I'm not getting any pop up messages.
