Can't batch remove Fast Web View - option is checked and greyed out

Community Beginner ,

any help welcomed. so I need to batch remove the Fast Web View option from many pdfs. I was going to use the Action Wizard in the Acrobat but when I get to that setting it's selected (checked) by default and greyed out so I can't uncheck it. I've this setting unchecked in my global preferences.

Why is it checked and greyed out then? And what can I do to uncheck it?

thank you in advance for any help.remove_fast_web_view.jpg

I don't see such an option under HELP. I've tried to search but there is nothing either. Also nothing under CC manager.

in which version of macOS is this happening?

Hopefully you're not one of those mac users that just upgraded to a beta -tester version of Big Sur since it is not fully suppoprted yet.

See if this uninstall and reinstall method works: https://helpx.adobe.com/download-install/kb/uninstall-reinstall-acrobat.html

Let me know if this works.

I've tried a new installation on a Windows 10 PC. Then I've tried on another mac with Mojave. the same problem everywhere. Also the Fast Web view option is the only one greyed out. The one I need to change.

Seems like this is a PDF settings that was embedded in some of those PDFs... or is this happening even if you create a new document from scratch?

this happens when I try to set a new Action script using the Action Wizard. if I open a single pdf then I can change it in the settings just fine.

but I cannot change it in hundreds of pdfs one by one. I need to do it in a batch.

The only thing I can think of is if you're trying to batch in large groups of files, seems like there is a limit that can be handle at one time.  Does this happen even if you only try to do a batch for 5 files?

Also, it may be possible that some of the files in a selected group are secured or certified with a signature.

If that is the case, maybe the optimization is greyed out because such action is not permitted due to some restrictions enforced.

In my case, I tried to perform a file reduction on a secured document instead of the file Optimization. For a moment it worked until it was time to save the file. It return an error that the document couldn't be saved and it was lost.

Now, if the problem is happening with even  unsecured (unencrypted) files, then I don't know what could be the problem. Would it be possible if you can share a sample file?

LATEST

I've tried a single unprotected file and that option was still not accesible. Also, it's the ONLY option that is not accessible so if the problem would be with a security or certification then other options would be inaccesible as well.

However I was able to solve the problem by using a combination of CPDF and a Python script. it worked perfectly and there wasn't a single problem while it went through app. 5.000 files which makes this issue exclusive to Acrobat.

And if you couldn't even save the reduced file on your end then it looks like the Action Wizard is there only for a show and it's not a real and usefull tool for batch processing of pdf's. Fortunately thers is a CPDF tool that actually does what it says. Just in case you'd need to bacth procees pdf's in the future.

I've tried on a Windows 10 PC with the same result. This issue is not OS based.
