I'm using Acrobat 2020 and Windows 10..

This Adobe help page says I can apply strikethough to text as follows:

  1. Use the Select text tool to select the text you want to mark up.
But I don't have a Select text tool. I have an Edit PDF tool, When I select that it allows me to select the text I want to edit.

  2.  From the markup toolbar that appears, take one of the following actions as desired:
But I don't get a toolbar called "markup" when I select Edit PDF.
I get an Edit PDF toolbar, which looks like this:
    edit-pdf-toolbar.png
and an Edit PDF side panel, which looks like this:

    edit-pdf-side-panel.png

  • To strikethrough the text, select Strikethrough text strikethrough-text[1].png

But as you can see from the above screen captures, I don't have a Strikethrough text icon. I have "Bold", "Italic", "Underline", "supersript" and "subscript" icons, but mot Strikethrough text.

Is the help article wrong or am I misssing something? The article says it applies to Acrobat 2020, but it seems to apply to a different product than the one I have.

How can I apply Strikethough text in Acrobat 2020?

Strikethrough is a commenting tool. There is not a formatting option inside Edit PDF for this. If you want to strikethrough in the PDF it can only be accomplished using the commenting tool.

Thanks, I've found it now.

If anyone from Adobe is reading this:

  1. The Help article I linked to in my original post is very misleading - it does not state that you have to open the Commenting tool in order to access Strikethrough. Please could it be rewritten?

  2.  I am having to use the commenting tool in order to edit text, which isn't user-friendly as no one would think of doing that unless told to. I see no reason why the Strikethrough option shouldn't be available using the Edit PDF tools as well as using the Commenting tools. It should be in both places. Please could this be taken as a feature request?
