Can't get a Action Wizard Action to Run

Community Beginner ,
Apr 26, 2023 Apr 26, 2023

I have Acrobat Pro Version 2023.001.20143 on a Mac M1 MacOS version 13.3.1 (22E261)

I have tried to create an Action in Action Wizard to save 70 pdf files to plain text, but can't figure out how to run it. This is my first time trying to use Action Wizard and I've probably overlooked something simple (like I have to add a "go" button).

I've saved the Action and added it to my toolbar, but it is grayed out and won't run.

For what it is worth when I click Home | See all Tools there is no "Action Wizard" and when I try to search for tools "Action Wizard" finds nothing, though there is an Action Wizard section in Preferences. Do I need to install something?

Thanks!

Brian

Hello Bernd,

OK I should not try to solve computer issues right before going to bed.

The Adobe documentation says "Choose Tools > Action Wizard" but when I go to Tools there is no Action Wizard visiable.

When I type Action in the search box at the top of tools I get "Use guided actions" but when I click on this I get a message: "Feature support is coming  The new Acroba experience doesn't support this feature yet. To use this feature, select View > Disable new Acrobat."

Somehow I completely overlooked that last sentance. I disabled new Acrobat and now the Action Wizard appears as you mention and as the documentations show.

Thank you for your help.

Brian

How have you created the action without the Action Wizard?

I found that if I went to: View | Show/Hide | Costumize Toolbar

I could add "New Action", "Manage Actions" (and evetually my new "Save as text" action) to my toolbar. Once I had the "New Action" shortcut on my toolbar I was able to create the action, and can see/edit it through the "Manage Actions" shortcut. But failed to see how to run this new action as it does not launch from the toolbar.

  1. Start the Action Wizard
  2. Select your action at the Actions List
  3. Press Start

You can't launch the action from the toolbar.
