Can't open comments

Enthusiast ,
Oct 08, 2015 Oct 08, 2015

I am using Acrobat Pro DC on my iMac. A client sent me a pdf with comments. I can see the little yellow comment icons, but can't open them. I've never had this problem before... I can open and collapse comments all the time. But not this time. What am I doing wrong? Thanks!

Go to the Comment panel and look under the Comments List. Do these sticky

notes appear there?

If not then someone probably flattened the file at some point, removing all

information related to the comments and turning them into a static graphic

on the page.

Hi ,

What happens when you click on the option to expand and close comments?

Do you see any behavior?

Also check if your Acrobat is updated to the latest patch.

Regards

I have the latest version of Acrobat, I believe. At least, when I go to the Creative Cloud, it doesn't tell me there's an update.

The little yellow squares with the white voice bubble icons are on the pdf. But... I can only see them. I can't click on them or select them. It only selects the text behind them. It's like they are not really there.

I went to the comment panel, and they were not there. So I'm sure this is what happened. Thank you.

How can someone save the file so they don't flatten it and the comments show up on my end?

I have had exactly the same issue, I installed Acrobat Reader and that seems to work, seems to me like a very backwards way of doing it but that seemed to work for me

fourtwentyseven: So installing Reader enabled you to read the comments?

I use Reader to open the PDF and didn't even use Pro, so I now have the two applications on my Mac and I am using Reader to open PDF's with comments, seems a complete nonsense to me but it seems to work

I just downloaded and installed Reader... and it didn't solve the problem. But thanks for the suggestion... it was worth a try! I've told my client to look over how she saved the pdf with comments... so hopefully she can avoid flattening it!

I just now created a very lengthy comment on a document I created.  This document has not yet been distributed, and I realized I need to make an edit. I can see the actual comment in wire-frame squeezed on to the page. However, it is not listed in the side-bar comments/filter/find, etc. and I cannot select it!  wassup?? be nice if i could at least copy the text without having to change into edit mode.

using win10, pro dc

What tool did you use to add the comment?

I used the comment bubble icon. i was then given the opportunity to

indicate preferences after composing my comment. The screen auto changed

to 2-page view. i can see my comment but am not able to select any portion

of the comment or associated markings and date/time stamps, etc.

i was able to eventually do a work around by putting the doc into edit mode

and making my changes.

seems as tho there might be a more routine process.
