This PDF was exported from a music notation software. This is a beta version of the software; previous versions exported PDFs just fine (I have probably exported 20,000 of them with no issue). But PDFs exported from the beta version will not open on my machine, either in Acrobat Pro or in Microsoft Edge. When I attempt to open them in Acrobat, the program freezes and then crashes every time. They open in Foxit Reader and several browsers without issue.
Any suggestions?? This is really causing me problems. Thanks in advance! I have attached an offending PDF.

There is an error in the PDF. You may want to inform the software creator.
Technically: The info dictionary is broken:
1 0 obj
<<
/Title ()
/Creator (...)
/Producer (þÿ Q t 6 . 8 . 1)
/CreationDate (D:20250423201029-04'00')
/ModDate (D:20250423201029-04'00')
/Trapped /False
2
endobj
Where there is the "2" before endobj, there should have been a ">>".
PS: Inspecting the file some more, there are other errors as well, like a ProcSet entry in the Pages dictionary. At least in regard to the PDF export, this "beta version" of the PDF producer seems to be more in a pre-alpha state.

Sorry to hear that. The attachment didn't get posted here. If you can open it anywhere else, try the Print or Save (as PDF) to see if you can get a good copy.

Greatly appreciated. I've passed this on to the developers.

I just heard back from the developers. It sounds like Qt, which is the platform they use, has made some changes to PDF export, and they are contacting the Qt folks. Thank you!

Thanks Dan, I have MacOS 12 and it opened fine in Firefox. Acrobat DC had no problem either.
So I opened it in Preview and exported it as PDF/A I'm attaching it and hope it works.

Much appreciated! I'm afraid a secondary conversion won't be a solution, since I'm exporting sometimes hundreds of PDFs a day. I'm baffled as to why it isn't working on my machine. Maybe I should try re-installing Acrobat.
Preview works fine, as does Safari, Firefox, Foxit... just not Acrobat Pro.

I've marked MikelKlink's answer as correct. Interesting that the PDF bug crashed Acrobat, but not other PDF readers (or even my copy of Acrobat). I guess that's what makes troubleshooting a teachable experience.

Same Problem here. My Logic Pro makes pdf's. Earlier days there never were problems with opening pdfs. But today: pdf's are shown correctly in the preview - but no Contents after opening. Same wit pdf from Word-pdf's. Terrible to design my scholl-contents...
Any ideas?
