So a co-worker is trying to print checks. When she sends me the file this is the message I receive. Then when I open the file the MICR markings are gone and are now letters. Can someone help?

It's possible the font is protected from being embedded in a PDF. Acrobat would substitute the font.

You cannot extract an embedded font, but you could look to see if the font is available from the software company's website.

First — make sure your version of Acrobat is fully updated!!!

Assuming that your version of Acrobat is now fully updated and the message still appears, this particular message is indicative of an improperly generated PDF file. Typically the issue is not that the font is not embedded, but rather that the font was improperly embedded, possibly missing encoding tables or other critical aspects of the original font file.

Using Acrobat Pro DC's Preflight functionality, there are profiles for finding and fixing potential font problems. Employ these and see if that resolves the problem. If not, whatever created the PDF file in the first place needs to be debugged.
