Changing the measuring tool units and measurements

Principiante de comunidad ,

Hi,

When reading the PDF in Acrobat 9 Pro, how can I change the measurement units  from inches to metric when using the measuring tool?

I have already been  to Preferences and changed in Units and Guides the Page and Rules Units  to millimeters but then, although the rulers do change to mm, the  measuring tool (the red lines) still read in inches...I have also made sure the Measuring (2D) preferences show the 'Use Scale and Units from Documents' is checked.

Does anyone kow how I could get the measuring tool to give me the dimensions in metrics?

It would be truly great if anyone could clarify this. Thank you so much!

I am sorry if I have wasted anyone's time. I have actually now found a solution.

Right clicked the page when the measuring tool was selected and chose 'change scale ratio'. However, I would have never thought that it was a ratio issue...

Thanks a lot, anyway.

Just go to the bottom of the toolbar on the right of the window and select "other tools". There you will be able to choose the "Measurements" tool. From now on, this tool will be present on the right next to the others (it should be pink).

Once selected, by right-clicking on the document, you will get a drop-down menu from which you can change the scale and precision ratio.

Thank you very much  Lena I know how to access the drop-down menu to change the Scale Ratio, my problem is HOW to Find the Scale Ratio that corresponds to my PDF Architectural plan while i a measuring . The architectural plans the Scale is 3/16"=1'. What is the Scale ratio that i have to insert on my Drop-down menu e.g the dimension in my plan is 10'-4" When I use the measurement tool it gives me 4.4feet  while my Scale factor is .20"=1 ' on the drop- done menu. then i go back to the Drop-menue and i change to .15"=1' it gives me a measurement 5.9 feet The Big ENIGMA what is the SCALE FACTO that i have to insert in the Drop-Down menu in order to give me 10'-4" when i measure this dimension

Hi Constantin,
I understand better your questioning, but I must admit that apart from the metric system, I have some difficulty in mastering the Anglo-Saxon system based on feet and inches...

Anyway, usually, when I have to act on the ratio, on the left part of the dialog box, I enter the distance measured on the plan (using pixel or point unit), and on the right part, the distance that corresponds to the reality taken on the ground (using meter, centimeters, as needed).

Does this help you better?

MÁS RECIENTES

Lena is indeed amazing, but you may want to look at the help file in the future:

https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/measurement.html

The basic concept is X number of pixels equals Y distance in whatever units you want. Photoshop does not care what you call the units--it's only measuring pixels and calculating the ratio of the units you put in.

PS: the lack of response was probably because this post was marked with a correct answer about 10 years ago. (Some of us users filter by unanswered posts.) You should have started a new post. You would have gotten more responses.
