Checkbox border thickness

I see all the posts about check boxes having different thickness of borders, even though they are all set to thin.

I did see something on Adobes site (last year 2016) that claimed it is a know bug. I can no longer find that page.

Has anyone else seen that it is a known issue? Or even better, does anyone have a fix yet?

Does it only happen when the following preference is deselected: Edit > Preferences > Page Display > Rendering > Smooth line art

If so, the fix is to select it.

It happens whether that is selected or not. I have tried a number of things. But last year I did see a web site that said this is a known issue with Acrobat. If that is still the case, then it is hit and miss. I would like to find that page, or a way to actually contact Adobe. But Adobe is not customer friendly.
