Combining Files in Acrobat without Merging Data

New Here ,

I know how to combine files into one pdf but for whatever reason, Acrobat takes the liberty of just merging different fields from the first PDF into the rest. For example I have three pdf timecards and when I combine them together into 1, Acrobat makes all of the social security numbers the same based off the first time card and all the dates the same. I have no idea why anyone would want that feature and if they did, why that wouldn't be something that is checked in options and not automatically done.

It's not a "liberty", or a "feature". It's a simple fact that fields with the same name in a file will always have the same value. If it weren't like that it would be impossible to work with them (as you wouldn't be able to read or write a value to them).

The solution is to flatten the files before merging them. If you want to keep the fields editable in the merged file you will have to rename them first, or merge the files as a Portfolio.
