Until last week I hadn't used the comments function. Since using it everytime I open a PDF if opens the comments tool bar.
A lot of the PDFs have AutoCAD file in the rear, the comments tool autogenerates comments for these files where there are none. This can cause some PDFs to be difficulat to naviagte and slows everything down.
For example a 43 page document with no human comments has 6442 autogenerated AutoCAD comemnts.
Any ideas on how to stop the comments tool bar opening every time.

Hi Martin5E0C,
Thanks for letting us know that this is resolved.
Please note that this is a new feature: open the comment app automatically when PDF has comments.
You can disable this feature by either of the following ways:
-By disabling the Commenting Preference "Show comments pane when a PDF with comments is opened"
-By using the bezel (When comment app opens automatically and you close it within 30 seconds, a bezel is shown to retain this behaviour or not.)
Regards,
Arvind

Hello all!
Good News! The issue has been resolved, and now the preferences you set, should remain as it is, even after a restart.
Please update the app to the latest version (2024.003.20180), give it a try and let me know if it works for you.

Hi @ioconnex @Rosanna35039738h4u0 @robert_8220 @triathleteguru,
Could you please try deleting the “Exchange-ProMesaages” DB file after closing Adobe Acrobat?
This file is found at “C:\Users\<Username>\AppData\LocalLow\Adobe\Acrobat\DC.”
Once this file is deleted, open Acrobat and continue with the workflow.
Let me know if this solves the issue.

How about "ReaderMessages"
- same thing, different setup?

Performed the recommendation
- no change, comments still open when doc opened
- “Exchange-ProMesaages” is re-created after opening Acrobat DC

Sorry, can't share my specific file in question. I just spent some time experimenting:
I toggled all kinds of things with a different "Microsoft: print to PDF" file, from a browser last week, and the new test file behaves as expected opening as last viewed or per setting:
Just when I thought it was safe to go back in the water, saving the bad file with a new name changed which pane opens on launch, now "pages" pane appears instead of "comments." The bad file "Save as" version still reports LibreOffice producer.
That's all I gots.

Hi @S. S
- It happens on all files with comments for me
- Example Doc Shared
- Screen Recording shared (showing that preferences check box never remains "unchecked" even during same session)

Hi @ioconnex,
Would you mind sharing the app version number?
Please go to Menu-> Help-> About Acrobat, and share the screenshot here with me.
@change screen name, Would you mind getting on a call with me? This will help us get a better idea, as we are unable to reproduce the workflow on our end.
If yes, please let me know, and I will send an email through which you can schedule a meeting at your convenience.

Yes, I wouldn't mind but I have hurdles.
Still unpacking after a move and haven't found a cam/mic. Can't borrow library terminals because they're rebuilding after a ransomware episode. Might not be that long if I bump into hardware sooner than later.
Maybe I can keep tossing up screen shots if it's some evidence you seek?
In the interim, I'll get rid of that registry edit. Since it didn't improve things, no loss.

I tried the reported-successful:
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Adobe\Adobe\Acrobat\DC\FeatureLockDown\bReplaceOnKeyDown=0
It kept the comments checkbox turned off, as mine was permanently on after toggling off and saving the preferences, but it did not effect the appearance of comments on file open. Box unchecked, comments still reopen.
