Comments not displaying in Shared Review on document cloud when opened on desktop

I have a number of documents stored in the document cloud that are going through a shared review process.

Yesterday I could open them from the Acrobat application and see the comments.

Today when I try to open them from Acrobat, no comments are displayed and the comment pane basically says to "get started". That's if the document gets past the "Preparing shared file" message, which it often isn't.

Windows 10, version 20H2. Recently installed some quality and driver updates. OS build says 19042.1586

Dell Latitude 5150, 32Gb RAM

The Dell did a firmware update yesterday.

I've had intermittent issues with the shared files not showing up on the Home tab of the document or opening the shared review file, but this is the first time it's opened without displaying comments I know exist.

I can work from the web interface, but I find it easier to work from the desktop.

Suggestions?

Troubleshooting so far:

  • Restart program.
  • Reboot computer.
  • Sign out of Adobe, reboot, then sign back in.
  • Uninstall Acrobat then reinstall.

So far, no joy.

Today I get to see comments in the desktop version of Acrobat, but not ALL of them. About half seem to be missing.

I'm having this same issue. Very frustrating! I also prefer to make comments in the desktop app but none of the comments are showing even though I'm getting Acrobat notifications that people have commented. I just restarted my computer but no dice. I'm gunna try uninstalling & reinstalling Acrobat DC. Has anything worked for you yet?

No. It was very, very weird. Luckily I've finished that one and the others seem to be behaving. Glad to know it's not just me, though, as I seem to stumble into the weird problems more often than the common ones!

I wound up finishing it off using the web browser version, which was bloody inconvenient since the only way to see everything was to have it full screen. I have a big screen. Usually I can have my doc on half of it and the PDF with comments on the other half, making things easy to edit. Not this time!

And would you believe, the new one I posted late yesterday is having the same issue.

Yeah it's so strange because it was working great for me a couple weeks ago and now I can't get any comments to show in Acrobat desktop. So I'm forced to use the browser version as well 👎🏻

For me, it was working day before yesterday. Then yesterday, poof.

Do you also have an issue with comments going blank when you click on them in the desktop app? They're not erased (if you click back in the document, they reappear), but if you click on them, that area of the comments pane is blank except for the name of the commenter.

So I can't see any comments whatsoever even though when I view the same file in the browser there are several comments. From the browser when I click "Open in Acrobat" it opens the desktop app and it says "preparing shared file.." (screenshot attached) but the file never loads.

LATEST

Day before yesterday, it wouldn't load in the desktop at all, same as you. Yesterday, loaded with about half the comments showing.

In previous annoyances, comments disappear from the comment pane when clicked (to go to the place in the document where they are) but leave a gap in the comment pane. Clicking in the main document again makes the reappear.

It's weird.
