compare reader dc with acrobat dc

Community Beginner ,
May 17, 2020 May 17, 2020

It appears to me by the similar pricing that the software reader dc and acrobat dc is actually the same software and that the license key unlocks the full features.

IS THIS A CORRECT OBSERVATION?

IF I DOWNLOAD READER DC AND THEN SUBSCRIBE FOR THE FULL PACKAGE DOES IT TURN INTO ACROBAT DC?

Reader is free. Acrobat is not.

And no, if you subscribe Reader doesn't become Acrobat. You'll need to download and install it separately.

Thank you for the fast reply. I know acrobat has a fee, I currently have acrobat 2017 standard (XI before that) and looking to help clients. When i click on reader "edit" it takes you to a price page. Is there a comparison between reader subscription and acrobat subscription?

What can't you do with a reader with that you can do with acrobat subscription?

There's no such thing as a Reader subscription. You can subscribe to either Acrobat (which you need to install on your computer) or the Adobe PDF Pack online services (which you can access either via Reader or via your browser).

With Acrobat you can perform all kinds of edits on your file that you can't do with Reader, such as adding form fields, scripts, bookmarks, new pages, etc., etc. With the online subscription you can do some limited editing, mostly pages manipulation.

With the virus i am accountant looking to help clients sign tax returns and reviewing adobe options. I can email the pdf and a client can use reader dc to sign the tax return, but I want to explore another option; I saw on a page there is an option to request signature;

What do i need to have that option?

How does the request work?

What does the client need at their end?

THANK YOU for your time so far.

I know why you might think that, because Acrobat Reader is full of adverts to upgrade. Some upgrades (PDF Pack, Export PDF) add on to Reader. The big upgrades (Acrobat Standard and Acrobat Pro) are a different app. Confusingly, the Acrobat Reader apps just keep telling you to buy.
