Convert .doc word documents to PDF

I am trying to convert multiple word documents to individual PDFs.  It works fine for word documents that are .docx format.  It fails for any document that is .doc format.  The failure happens for all .doc files no matter what method I try, and no matter if I try single or multiple conversions.  The only way I can convert the .doc files is to open each one in word and convert from there.  I have hundreds to convert so this is not an option.  How do I get this to work for .doc files?

This is strange. .doc file is getting converted fine for me. if you can share files (if shareable), will be really helpful to debug.

You seem to be on a pretty old build, can you please try udpating to latest build 24.003.20112 and try converting. For me, conversion is successful as attached.

I'm not sure what you mean by old build?  My Adobe pro is enterprise-wide, subscription based and updates automatically.  The word documents I need to convert are, obviously, older as they are .doc files.  They convert just fine if I open them and convert them, but won't convert in batches or singles without opening them.

Sorry I see what you mean.  Although my adobe (pushed at the enterprise level) claims to be continous release, it is actually running 2023.001.20143.  Unfortunately I'm not able to update as the enterprise controls updates to our computers.

Ok, while your are trying to convert multiple doc files, how are you trying to achieve that, can you please share me the steps?

Also, are you proposing to have batch conversion from Word as well ?

Using the create tool in Adobe, with either the single file or multiple files options by selecting or dragging and dropping the file(s). (screen shot below) It works for .docx but not .doc (however if I open a .doc file and create the PDF from within the file it works fine - but this is not an option for the volume of files I need to convert)
