Converting formatted book pages from OCR pdf to Word. All odd pages ok. All even pages only half there - left edge begins mid-page and runs off right edge but type (on even pages only) is also corrupted. Has anyone seen this? Any suggestions/solutions?

Hi:

Thanks for your offer of help.

I am sending you the pdf file in question. If you put it through your

converter you will see directly what is happening.

Here's the problem I am getting:

All odd pages convert fine, but all even pages are broken. The even pages'

left margin starts mid-way across the page and runs off the page on the

right; plus, the type is broken randomly on these even pages (but not on

odd pages).

If all pages were corrupted it would seem logical that the originating

process is the source of the problem. But that same originating process

does not corrupt the odd pages. When viewed as a pdf it is perfect, and

was the printing file for the book.

If you can solve the riddle I'd be very appreciative.

Many thanks:

J (Joe).

Hi Joe,

This is a producer issue.

As all even pages are "Right aligned pages" hence they were exported the same way.

Refer to image shared.

CaptureForum.PNG

This explains the text starting from the middle of the document.

Since this was a book earlier so it makes sense.

Solution:

Open the document in Acrobat and select Print to PDF option by Ctrl+P shortcut key.

Then select "Adobe PDF" in printer drop down menu with setting(shrink over-sized pages).

The resultant PDF wont have any export issues.

Thanks,

Rishabh Sharma

Hi Rishabh

I asked a number of experts to solve this problem. Only you could offer a potential solution. Your explanation makes sense to me.

However, here is what I get when I follow your instructions (I am using a MacBookPro, trying to convert this PDF to Word for editing):

When I hit Command-P the drop-down menu does not show 'Adobe PDF', just my office Canon printer. I do have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on this Mac.

Hope you can help.

Thank you: Joe

Hi Joe,

The Reader version does not support this, nor there is any workaround for this faulty PDF on mac in Acrobat reader.

However, if you may use the Acrobat DC pro trial version for windows or Buy Acrobat DC Pro for mac and resize the pages.

In the second option where you will be using Acrobat DC Pro on mac, you can use the Organize pages app to select even pages and resize them using Set Page Boxes tool. Though this will still not remove the left margin but will bring the text in visible area for even pages.

Refer to sample exported doc after setting page boxes.
