Copying Drop-Down from old PDF to new PDF

New Here ,
Jul 30, 2018 Jul 30, 2018

I am trying to copy a drop down field from one pdf document to another. Currently my form has many drop downs with a substantial amount of drop downs. If i have both forms in "Prepare Form" mode and then copy the drop down in the old form it will not allow me to paste in the new form.

I have Adobe Acrobat Pro DC.

Essentially, i am trying to recreate the document from scratch. As the current one has a lot of weird formatting/spacing and it was initially created from a word document that is nowhere to be found. I found it would be easier to recreate it from scratch in Word. the document is simply things like:

Name: ____

Address: ___

Other Stuff: ___

etc ___

etc ____

So when i converted the Word document to a PDF. It worked fine.

I then clicked prepare form and it asked me if I wanted to auto recognize text fields. I selected yes and it placed a text field on all of the ______. Which is what I was looking for. At this point I am trying to copy the drop down fields from the old form into the new one so I don't have to recreate these picklists. However, when I copy from the old it does not give me the option to paste in the new.

I tried copying/replacing the pages in the new document and it will pull ALL of the fields from the old one into the new EXCEPT the drop downs.

Any ideas?

The replace pages feature completely ignores form fields.  It only replaces content.  So one option is to replace all the pages in the Old PDF with pages in the new PDF, so you get the new page text without changing any of the fields.

Another option is to use Ctrl-C/Ctrl-V to copy and paste the dropdown fields from one PDF to another. This works for me, but the other options of using the "Copy/Paste" menu options does not.
