Coverting word to pdf does not display properly

New Here ,

I have a large word document (12" x 18") and when I convert it to a pdf the background color cuts off or the text shifts position. Help would be greatly appreciated.

How are you converting it, exactly?

it doesn’t work with print to pdf, export to pdf, or save as pdf. They each have different issues. Microsoft support basically said it had to do with the setting in adobe due to the size of the paper, and that it wasn’t their problem.

Let's take a step back. What version of Acrobat do you have, what version of Office, and what OS version?

It's a new computer so I assume that its the latest of both. Mircosoft techs updated word but it was 2016. Office 365 plus, windows 10, and the most updated acrobat reader dc.

What paid-for Adobe software do you have? It doesn’t seem as if Adobe software is involved at all in your problem, so far.

I do not have any paid for software, according to the Microsoft office techs it has to do with the size of the document in word (12"x18") and the settings in adobe acrobat dc do not allow it to display properly.

No that won’t be right. If the file is the right size it will show that size, up to the limit (200 inches). Please open the PDF and use File >Properties. What size does it show?

It shows 18"x12". What is odd is that the conversion issues aren't consistent if I choose to export to pdf, the text does not remain in the same position. If i choose save as pdf, only half of the background color shows, and if I choose print to pdf it does both.

Size is good at least. You should not expect a background colour to get into PDF. They don’t print either. Their job is to show you what the file would look like if you printed it on colour paper.

I've done smaller documents with the background color before, and that still doesn't explain why the text moves position. I'm tryng to get a poster printed so I need both perfect. Also it's past due so this is really becoming an issue

The PDF creation process has nothing to do with Reader. You're using an internal function of Word, so the issue needs to be solved there.

I am sure it isn’t a problem with Adobe software. But if you aren’t sure, try opening the PDF with a different, non-Adobe viewer. You seem to have had duff info from a Microsoft tech but try a Word forum.
