Create book index with indexing info

Hello, I wish to explore Adobe Acrobat 2020's capabilities to extract indexing information to create an index for a book. Where can I find information on how to create/build an index, and what are the challenges involved? Thanks.

If your book was created in InDesign, you can create an index there:

I don't know if this is possible in Acrobat.

The kind of index Acrobat can create is not the kind a book will have. It's a mechanism for searching it more efficiently, not a visual representation of terms and their locations in the file.
