Creating, editing, and deleting personal signatures on Adobe Acrobat Pro

Nouveau ici ,
Oct 17, 2024 Oct 17, 2024

Good afternoon,

I am unsure if this is the correct location to post this inquiry, but I am having a difficult time creating, adding, editing, and deleting my personal signature using Adobe Acrobat Pro. What I have read, so far, is that once a signature and/or initials are entered into a PDF document, it/they cannot be edited, deleted, and replaced.

Is this correct? I wanted to change my current signature, which was a practice one, to my original signature.

Thank you.

Hi @Keyboard Cat,

Hope you are doing well. Thanks for writing in!

In case you are still looking for a solution, you can change your signature in Adobe Acrobat Pro, but it depends on the type of signature:

1. Digital Signature (Certified or Signed using a Certificate)

  • Once a document is digitally signed with a certificate, it becomes locked, and you cannot edit or delete the signature without invalidating the document.
  • If you want to change a digital signature, you will need to remove it (if allowed) or use the original unsigned document.

2. Stored Handwritten Signature or Initials (e.g., using the "Fill & Sign" tool)

  • For signatures created using the "Fill & Sign" tool:
    • You can delete or replace the signature.
    • To delete a stored signature:
      1. Open Adobe Acrobat Pro.
      2. Go to "Fill & Sign".
      3. Click the signature field.
      4. Look for the option to Remove Signature or Clear Saved Signature.
    • You can then add a new signature by selecting "Add Signature" and following the prompts.

If you are referring to a signature that was added as part of the document (flattened or part of the content), it cannot be edited directly. However, you may be able to cover it with white space and insert a new signature.

Hope this helps.
