Hello Guys 🙂

I'd like to ask you for help.

The function FIND (CTRL+F) does not work in SOME pdf docs, in some it does.
Do you have some similar experience?
Is anyone able to give me an explanantion/help me?

Thanks a lot in advance!!

This usually happens when the file doesn't contain real text (only an image with text in it), or the text is not encoded properly. You can test it out by trying to select the text with the text selection tool. If you're not able to select it at all, then it doesn't exist as text, and therefore can't be found. If you are able to select it, copy it and then paste into a plain-text editor, like Notepad. Does the pasted text look the same as the text you've selected in the PDF? If not, it's a font encoding issue.

Thanks a lot, you're right, it definitely is a font encoding issue - I have tried coping a part of the text from pdf and pasting it in a woed doc, it came out like little crosses...
What might be the solution for the font encoding issue, please?

There's no simple solution, I'm afraid. You will basically need to re-create the file from scratch.

If you didn't create it in the first place then your best option is to export all the pages as high-resolution image files (such as PNGs), then create a new PDF from those files and run Text Recognition on it in Acrobat.

When you recreate the new PDF, make sure the export / "Save As" settings are set to embed all fonts into the PDF.

When you copied and pasted the text from your first PDF above, the "little crosses" appeared because the original font was missing in the PDF.

For instructions on how to export (save as) PDFs from MS Word, use either of the 3 methods described here: https://www.pubcom.com/blog/tutorials/ms-office/export-pdf/index.shtml
