Customize Keyboard Shortcuts

Using a Mac OS 10.6.8 with Acrobat X Pro.

Is it possible to cutomize the keyboard shortcuts for Acrobat? I want, for instance, to set up a quick key to Accept a Comment.

You cannot customize keyboard shortcuts for Acrobat.

It should be possible to set up a custom toolbar button or menu item that sets the status of the selected comment. I haven't actually done this, but it looks like all the pieces are in place. If you made it a custom menu item, you'd be be able to access it throught the keyboard. A custom toolbar button would make it one click instead two plus the menu traversing as it currently is.

You can do the same type of thing for anything that can be implemented with JavaScript.

Only in the sense of opening the top-level menu with the ALT-key combination and then arrow-keying down to the new item. Custom menus cannot have keyboard shortcuts.

That's not totally accurate. You can add keyboard accelerators (using an

ampersand) to menu items that are added with a script, but not to toolbar

items.

Accelerators are different to shortcuts (a shortcut is fired from anywhere, such as CRTL-X, whereas an accelerator only jumps you to a position in the currently-displayed menu panel).

Well, an accelerator doesn't just jump to the position in the menu, it

launches the command that is associated with it, so it can be used almost

like a shortcut. If you open Acrobat and press Alt+F, O, it will open the

File Open dialog, not just select that item in the File menu.
