Edit PDF tool Missing

I'm using Adobe Acrobat through a Creative Cloud subscription. None of my PDFs have the Edit PDF option anymore. Even when I create a PDF on my computer from a Word document, the option is missing. I only have the options to comment, fill and sign, export, create, share, stamp, measure, and certificates.

Hope you are doing well, and sorry to hear that. 

 

There could be two possible scenarios leading to the disappearance of the Edit PDF option:

 

1. The option was removed from the right shortcut tools panel. 

  • Have you checked by clicking on the tools tab at the top of the Edit PDF option? If it does, you can enable it again to be visible on the shortcut tools panel.

 

2. The account you are logged in to in Acrobat is a different account than the one you have y

We would suggest installing Acrobat from here: Install Acrobat | Adobe Creative Cloud

 

Once installed, the full application version should be ready to use and auto-update as and when available.

This isn't an option that PDFs have. It's an option that apps have. It sounds as if your copy of Acrobat has lost its license, and reverted to being the free Acrobat Reader instead. I don't have a solution, unfortunately.

I guess the question is poorly written. What I mean when I say PDFs don't have the option, it's that when I open a PDF in Adobe Acrobat the option to edit PDF is not there. My license hasn't expired. Thanks for offering your help.

Hi, I had the same problem - the Creative Cloud Acrobat installed me a Reader only that didn't have its pro features, while I pay for the full cloud. I deinstalled it from the cloud and installed a Pro version via the installation file you linked and now it works. Can you tell me where can I flag this issue for devs? It's absurd to have Acrobat Pro missing as an option from the Cloud Platform.

When in the Creative Cloud Desktop Application, do you see the option to install Acrobat Pro DC or Acrobat Reader?

 

Also, a screenshot for the same would be great to understand for us and share with the dev team to look into.

Thank you! When I open the Creative cloud app it shows only one intance of "Acrobat". And it isn't clear which type of Acrobat I'm installing until I do. When I install it, it turns out a reader only. If I search Acrobat Pro, the same "Acrobat" instance shows.Creative Cloud.PNGAcrobat Pro.PNG

I don't see the reason, while I own a full Creative Cloud subscription, to have to go around and search for help and go to different menus, while my subscription should cover Acrobat Pro and it should be there available in the app list. That is literally the function of the Creative Cloud platform - access to the whole Adobe portfolio you have subscribed to or you'd like to acquire. Acrobat & Creative Cloud.PNG

Hi @zoritsap 

 

Sorry to hear about your experience and the confusion caused.

In Creative Cloud desktop, there's a common installer for Acrobat, and depending on the subscription you have entitled to, it will be activated as Acrobat Pro or Acrobat Std

 

  • When you launch the application, it will welcome you with your name. Navigate to Menu>Help>About Acrobat Pro to find the exact version.

 

  • As it's shared in your response, it looked like it has Reader feature. The only thing I could assume here is it might be a temporary issue/glitch where the application (Acrobat Pro) couldn't sync with the Creative Cloud desktop app to fetch the subscription details.

 

  • Launching Acrobat Pro after closing it completely or quick Sign out or Sign In will help for sure.

 

Note: The step to activate it from Acrobat Reader (freeware) are not applicable here. It's for those users who have been using Acrobat Reader already and purchased subscriptions. 

 

CC users can access and manage all their CC apps, including Acrobat Pro, from the CC desktop app.

Hi, thank you for the explanation. I've already manually installed Acrobat Pro from the library S.S. provided. I'd keep that in mind if I face further bugs in the future. And the dev team should keep that issue in mind too. I genuinely thought for about an year that Acrobat Pro features were no longer included in the Acrobat, provided with CC subscription, until I faced that thread and looked further into the matter. I had to switch my working machine and install all the apps anew. Probably the CC version I downloaded then was faulty. I don't use the edit function in Acrobat that much, but it sure was frustrating to think I was stripped from functions a previous version had.

Hello,

 

I just had the same issue happen with one of my users. Installed the "Acrobat" from Creative Cloud. The app says its fully licensed and up to date. However, I had to go to: Home - Help - Install Premium Features.

 

The install took almost 10 minutes. Your installer is not functining correctly. Extra steps like this make production go way down. Please fix this.

I'm having the same issue.  I've tried the link through Creative Cloud but it just keeps showing Acrobat Reader with no edit options like I had previously.  I don't see a spot to install Premium Features like the user Daniel above suggested.

Make sure you use the correct profile when signing in. If the license is assigned by an entity choose the work profile, if not choose personal profile.

Same here. I can't remember the last time I was able to seamlessly provision Acrobat Pro for a user. There's always some issue. This is the latest one - the user has no ability to edit, despite a couple of reboots, a valid Acrobat license, signed in, rights to edit the document, etc... This is just the norm. The only process I've found is to keep uninstalling and reinstalling until it decides it's happy.
