Editing a text box only allows one single keystroke

New Here ,
Aug 03, 2020 Aug 03, 2020

After the latest update (20.009.20074), I cannot edit any text boxes in any PDF anymore, except for one single keystroke. What I mean by that is that I can make exactly one keystroke when editing a text box - deleting 1 character, or typing 1 character - and then the text box becomes unresponsive to any keyboard input. I have to click out of it, and then click back into it in order to make more edits, of which again only 1 single keystroke is possible. So, editing or adding text has essentially become impossible.

Can someone reproduce this issue or, even better, please tell me how I can solve it?

EDIT: After posting, I found a post with the same issue. The problem temporarily goes away when I restart Acrobat, but keeps coming back persistently for unknown reasons.

Hi WayneH

We are sorry for the trouble. AS described, you cannot edit any text boxes in any PDF anymore, except for one single keystroke and The problem temporarily goes away when on  restarting Acrobat, but keeps coming back persistently for unknown reasons.

As you have the latest version 20.00920074 installed. Please try to repair the installation (For Windows Only) Go to Help > Repair installation and see if that works for you.

You may also try to reset the preferences to default as described in the help article https://community.adobe.com/t5/acrobat/how-to-reset-acrobat-preference-settings-to-default/td-p/4792...

If it still doesn't work, please try to create a new test user profile in Windows or enable the root account in Mac and try using the application there and check.

If it still doesn't work, you may try to remove the applicationas described in the similar discussion that you have shared https://community.adobe.com/t5/acrobat/text-box-loses-focus-when-editing-adobe-dc/m-p/11334496?page=...

Keep us posted with your observation and findings
