Embedded image disappears when asking for e-signature

Hi,

I have a very odd situation. I generated a form where on page 1 signatures are required to apprve expenses. On page two I havethe option that people can add their scanned receipts.

However, when I have then this form with the embedded image (doesn't matter if it is an embedded JPEG or PDF) available and use the send for e-signature option after uploading the document page 2 is blank! You cannot see the receipt. When I add the PDF as attachment and send it out the image is there.Something happens during the uploading process. How can I avoid this? Thanks in advance!

Hi @,

Hope you are doing well. Sorry for the trouble, and the delayed response.

In case you are still looking for a solution, here are my comments on it:

When you add an image to a PDF, especially if it's a scanned receipt, make sure it's properly embedded in the document rather than just placed as a reference or linked externally. Sometimes, images may appear visible locally (on your machine) but may not be embedded correctly when uploaded to Adobe Sign.

To ensure correct embedding:

  • Open the form in Adobe Acrobat Pro.
  • Right-click on the image (receipt) and choose Properties. Check the Content or Object settings to make sure the image is not just linked to an external source but actually embedded in the PDF.
  • If necessary, re-insert the image using Acrobat's tools (e.g., Edit PDF > Add Image) to ensure it is embedded within the document.

It's possible that the image is added as a layer or form field, which may not be recognized properly when the document is processed for e-signature. Flattening the PDF will turn the form and the image into a single layer, which could resolve this issue.

To flatten the PDF:

  1. Open the PDF in Adobe Acrobat Pro.
  2. Go to File > Print, and choose Adobe PDF as the printer.
  3. In the Print Settings dialog, select Comments & Forms > Document.
  4. Click Print, and save the PDF to a new file. This process flattens any form fields and embedded images, making them part of the document.

Once flattened, upload this version to Adobe Sign, and check if the image is visible on page 2 during the e-signature process.

Hope this helps.
