Good morning, I’ve just started using Adobe Acrobat and I need some help. I have a pdf file with a form where I want to import xml data. Inside Adobe Acrobat I have the option in menu Modify, Module Options, Import data and I can import the data perfectly. If I save that file and I open with Adobe Reader the menu for importing xml data is disabled.
How can I enable that option in Adobe reader?
Thank you for your help, best regards

I may be wrong, but I think this requires special rights, called "Forms Rights" added to the PDF. This is done only by a special enterprise app called AEM. The price is by negotiation, but I think it's fair to say that if you have 100 or less uses who want to import form data, it will be more cost effective to buy Acrobat for each one.

Actually, I might be wrong. Even AEM might not be enough. I cannot find any greyed-out import option in Reader. Where do you see it?

Thanks for your response. I’ve just discovered that if you open a file that doesn’t allow you to import data from xml the related menu is invisible. If you open another file and that file allow you to import data from xml you can see it even in the first file but the menu disabled.

What version of Acrobat Reader does you use?

I'm using Adobe Acrobar Reader DC 20.12.20041, it's the last version available.

OK, may be that this menu entry is only available at specific files.

Yes, probably there’s something I have to set in the file to enable the import option but I don’t know what…

Yes, I believe what you have to set is Forms Rights (but I do not have the software to confirm this). As I said I think this requires special rights, called "Forms Rights" added to the PDF. This is done only by a special enterprise app called AEM. The price is by negotiation, but I think it's fair to say that if you have 100 or less uses who want to import form data, it will be more cost effective to buy Acrobat for each one.
