End of Support for Adobe Acrobat XI October 2017?

Hi, I am trying to find an answer to this question. Read on Adobe's site that support for Acrobat XI (11) is ending October 2017.  Does that mean that no more security patches or updates will be issued for that product? The core and extended support options didn't explain how end of life for Acrobat XI will impact this. Does anyone know more about this? If Acrobat XI will no longer be supported with updates and patches then I think we may need to move to DC, but our organization is reluctant do so. Anyone have the info on this?

That is exactly what it means: No more updates. That includes security updates, or updates to make the application compatible with newer versions of Windows or macOS. There are two new versions of Acrobat that were released after Acrobat XI: Acrobat DC 2015 and  Acrobat DC 2017. Adobe's policy is to always support the current version and one version back, so Acrobat XI at this point in time is actually already two versions back, and that is why support for this application will end soon.

This doesn't mean the XI Pro community forums" websites and Acrobat's own XI Pro support websites with past answers, questions, and video tutorials will go away, does it?

If your organisation is reluctant to move because of UI changes, retraining needs, purchasing costs or deployment costs, I understand completely. However, there are a number of widespread myths about Acrobat DC (which does not include Acrobat Reader DC), which should be mentioned.

* It is subscription only - no it isn't, though the subscription version is recommended for a number of reasons including functionality

* It is cloud based/SaaS - no it isn't

* it has to save to the cloud - no it doesn't

* it will always offer cloud storage as well as local - no you can turn this off

* It requires individual user activation by Adobe ID - yes for the retail product, no for the volume product

Read this page and follow each link to learn more:

Acrobat DC has a new interface, but when you get inside and learn the interface, many of the dialog boxes are the same. They provide the old ways and the new ways in this version. As an example, you still have the old familiar Pages panel in the LHP, but you also have a new Organize Pages in the RHP, which I like better. There is a small learning curve, but I love it.

Anything COULD go away. Adobe have often lost videos and help, typically during tidy up and reorganization. But if it isn't a supported version, they won't fix anything, so they are lost forever. If you want to run old versions, you need to be already pretty well trained up, I'd say, as well as willing to face the serious risks you are choosing to take.

The forums currently keep all posts indefinitely. There is no specific support forum for XI.
