Excel Hyperlink to open Sharepoint Stored PDF using Adobe Document Cloud

New Here ,
Jan 21, 2020 Jan 21, 2020

Hi,

We use Microsoft Excel (desktop version) but our files are stored within SharePoint, note, we have to use the desktop version of excel due to the limitation of the online excel. Any changes sync back up to SharePoint via OneDrive software.

We link supporting documents (PDF files) to this excel document. The PDF files are stored in the same location on SharePoint.

I can open these files directly on SharePoint using the new Adobe Document Cloud program and edit/highlight/annotate as needed. but....

When clicking on the hyperlink from within the Desktop Microsoft Excel file - it opens on the default Chrome browser PDF tool rather than opening it from within Adobe Document Cloud so we can have the ability to edit etc.

Is there a way to direct excel to open these hyperlinks via SharePoint Adobe Document Cloud?

Thanks

Paul

I asked this question in a Microsoft Forum and got the following workflow.

Append "?web=1" to the weblink.

So if the link is

https://...-my.sharepoint.com/personal/.../Documents/../Test/Testdokument.pdf

append ?web=1

https://...-my.sharepoint.com/personal/.../Documents/../Test/Testdokument.pdf?web=1

This will open the web view.

In the web view you can select Open in Adobe Acrobat.

I'm facing the exact same issue but don't find answer even in the provided link the reply.

I can rephrase the question as follows:
What instruction shall be passed in the hyperlink to open a pdf file strored on the sharepoint in documentcloud.adobe.com?

Hi.

Thanks for your interest.

I'm working on Windows 10 Enterprise Edition - Version 21H2

When we click on the sharepoint viewer link on a pdf it opens in the documentcloud.adobe.com interface while when I use the link that is generate by Sharepoint on the same pdf, the file open in the explorer interface...

I wonder what is behind the scene in the hyperlink presented on the sharepoint so that it can be replicated in the hyperlink to get the file opening in the adobe.com interface.

Do you have any idea how to build the hyperlink to achieve the above described objectives?

I'm trying to accomplish the same thing, when opening files in notion, that are stored on sharepoint.

A solution would save us so much repetitive work...

A workaround I'm thinking of, is to link to the folder instead of the file. It then opens in the browser, where you can use the o365 adobe cloud app

Hi,
Thanks for the proposal that can be an option for a manual single operation.

My objective is to include the hyperlinks in a register of documents so that when clicking on the name of the document it opens the document. In my case a folder can have high number of files. Pointing the folder has a limited interest in this specific case.

This is a great presentation.  The operation does not work for me.  When I append the ?web=1, the result is the default webviewer (as without the ?web=1), and there are some additional features.  None of those features provide a direct means to view the pdf in Adobe.  Any suggesgtions?
