Expected end of color space

Community Beginner ,
Jan 25, 2023 Jan 25, 2023

In Acrobat Pro DC, after redacting a document and applying the redactions, upon saving I get a message "Expected end of color space." and then I am returned to the document. I exit and it appears that my redactions are in place. When I reopen the document, at the top it reads, "This PDF contains unapplied redactions. To permanently remove the selected content, select Apply.: When I click on Apply, I get the "Expected end of color space." message again.

What does this message mean and how do I address?

I have a user getting the same error when redacting. Were you able to find a solution? A full reinstall didn't help.

Hi there

Hope you are doing well and sorry to hear that

Is this an issue with a particular PDF file or with all the PDFs? Please try with a different PDF file and check. If the file is stored on a shared network/drive please download it to your computer locally and then try again.

What is the version of the OS and the Acrobat DC you are using? To check the version go to Help > About Acrobat and make sure you have the recent version 24.02.20759 installed. Go to Help > Check for updates and reboot the computer once.

Also try to repair the installation from the help menu (Win Only) and see if that works.

Please try to reset the Acrobat preferences as described here https://adobe.ly/3Vi4Udt and see if that works.

Yes, I'm running the latest version of Acrobat Pro. I'm running MacOS 10.15.7 and cannot update due to mechanical issues with my machine. This is occuring with documents that were exported to PDF from Word via a third-party system. I do not have this problem with documents that were exported directly from Word. That is the only variable that I am able to identify. However, based upon the number of upvotes this post has, I'm not the only one experiencing this problem so I do not believe this is an OS problem. If I understood what is causing the 'end of color space' message, it might help with identifying why the redactions are not being applied.

It's been almost 2 years since the original post and you haven't offered a real solution. This is still a problem with Adobe, although I hadn't experienced it for about a year until your recent "update." Disabling your latest "update" didn't fix it. I can't redo hours of work. You've had 2 years, what is your solution for this problem?

It took Adobe a year and a half to respond. So far, no solution.

Try to revert to the Classic UI: https://community.adobe.com/t5/acrobat-discussions/acrobat-2023-how-to-revert-to-classic-gui-user-in...
Consider the "new Acrobat" as a beta version, many features are still missing or half-implemented.
