Exporting 'selected' comments = exporting all the comments

Community Beginner ,
May 28, 2023 May 28, 2023

When exporting comments from a PDF it gives the option to 'exported selected comments'. So I select them and click export. then when I import them into another PDF ...ALL the comments come in. Is there something simple im missing?

Hi Clint5EBA,

Thank you for reaching out.

Please ensure you are using the steps suggested in the following help document: https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/using/importing-exporting-comments.html.

If you still experience the issue, share the steps you do. It would be helpful if you could share the screenshot or screen recording of the workflow.

Thanks,

Meenakshi

Hey MeenakshiNegi

yes I followed those instructions when I did it. I tried again and carefully checked and it still happened. Screens shots below.  Note the original number of comments is 45. When I filter for mine it is only 7, yet the last shot shows 45 comments back in again.

Have you selected the comments?

Yes, I don't see that they are selected. Filtering isn't selecting. Strictly speaking it should export ZERO comments in this case.

if you look at the 4th image you will see that i deliberately left the 4th comment unselected (lighter grey), knowing that it  would look like nothing was selected. If  there was nothing selected then I would have been able to highlight the "export selected to data file". Talk to Adobe about their colour scheme 🙂

Did you ever figure this out? I'm having the same problem. Except this document has 306 comments. SMH

Hi @pbjoy

Sorry for the troubled experience. Are you having trouble with the same issue with all the files having comments? Is it possible for you to share a couple of sample files exhibiting the same behavior?

Let us know if you can share the file or help us with a video recording it will help us identify the issue.
