Fields auto-populating with dashes

I have phone # fields i would like to populate with dashes, and the same with tax # fields, with 2 characters, a dash, and then 6 more characters. could anyone help plz?

There's a built-in option to do that under the Format tab.

If the formats available there don't match your needs you can use an arbitrary mask, like this:

(99) 99-9999-9999

Thanks for the formatting suggestion, it's friday and i spaced that it's already an option in there. The FEIN tax field is different tho, because I want the user to see the format as they type to be setup like 12-3456789. Is there a way you could help me figure that out?

You can enter that number as the field's default value, which means it will revert to it when the form is cleared.

You can also apply it as the field's tooltip, under Properties - General, and then it will appear when you hover over it with the mouse.

for the FEIN, the field i was talking about above, i chose arbitrary mask, and then filled in  99-9999999, but it's only allowing me to type 6 digits after the dash.

You shouldn't enter the dash yourself. It gets added automatically.

I tried it and it worked fine.

PS. Even if you enter the dash manually it works fine.
