I was curious and had to check for myself. The limit is not related to if you can download more than 50 or not or in a desired format.
In my very humble opinion, I don't think that we are grasping the concept of the still underestimated power of Adobe Document Cloud services correctly.
Because there is a very poor efffort in documenting the capabilities of such cloud services, customers like ourselves get very frustrated when something doesn't work as other cloud services do.
Furthermore, because of such expectations, the majority of consumer who doesn't have the time (nor knowledge ) to play around (or push the limits of some agreements) with such young cloud technologies, we end up giving up , and as a consequence voicing our discontent in support forums like this one.
But if we compare Adobe Document Cloud with Google Drive in the context of limited vs unlimited cloud storage file downloads, we will notice that they all impose restrictions (some of them inadvertently, and just as much as the well-known big wireless companies do when they bloat in their Ads that they offer "unlimitted text and data"; but the moment you watch too much streaming content in your mobile device you'll get a cap on bandwidth).
The same thing with digital CableTV companies. All of them

in this context, and nobody ever says that that is like stealing money from customers.
Let's take for example Google Cloud services; they may advertise that there is no file limit download, but do they explicitely tell the herd of naive cyber-audience out there that the files that we share with other users will lock those shared files from further downloads after a certain amount of concurrent downloads hits the set limit? No, of course not.
I can say, that with Adobe Document Cloud you can download to your computer device more than 50 files at once AND in less than three seconds (depending on Internet speeds "or caps in bandwidth" set by your Internet service provider(s)). But in order to do this we have to be creative and think out of the box.
For example, the message that you're getting is correct in saying that no more than 50 files can be compressed as a zip file at one given time. So is not the amount of files, it is the online file compressor that sets a limit to the desired files to be downloaded.
To prove it, I just did two PDF binders, each consisting of one 51 files PDF binder plus combined an additional 110 files with this binder into a nother PDF binder for a total of 161 files merged together into a single PDF binder.
So I pushed the envelope and did another merge for the same amount of files in another PDF binder of 110 files.
I chose to download these two PDF binders to see if I was gonna get the same error, but No. In the eyes of the zip file online compressor, when I click on "download" I am only zipping two files. As long as the PDF binders don't exceed 550 pages altogether, you will be able to perform downloads of many files in this fashion.
