Font spacing becomes randomized and garbled when editing text box (Acrobat DC 2021.005.20058)

Hello,

I am having an issue where I open a PDF and try to edit text.  The text box appears fine but when I start to type in the text box the fonts move all over the place, seemingly at random spacing and sometimes over-lapping.  It goes back to normal if I hit "undo".  The font preferences are already set to "use system fonts."  I've also tried setting the resoluton to "Use system setting"    Does anyone have any other suggestions?

I am using Acrobat DC Vers. 2021.005.20058.

This is an example of Before I start typing:

And this is what it looks like after I type in the box ( I typed 1 space):

I think I have found part of the problem.   The default font kerning for the text box was set to an unusually large number (6.67), I do not know why, I have never set kerning this high.  When I re-set the font kerning to 0 the problem stopped when I type in the box; however, it continues to occur when I try to move the box.  So part of the problem is solved.

PDF files were never meant to be edited in this way, and Acrobat was never meant to be this kind of editor.

So doing so is always going to be tricky, and often will cause more problems than solve them.

The real solution is to go back to the original file format used to create the PDF, make the changes there, and then generate a new PDF file from it.
