form fields not working

My form fields are not working. Documents setup that we use all the time have an issue recognizing the form fields.

Anyone else having this problem today? Think it is a bug. As another person I spoke with in the office is having

same issue. Any work around? My Acrobat does not show an update is due.

From what you have described, it seems there are either no form fields on the PDF, or it is locked by signature or security

Try this:

1. Open the form in Acrobat Professional

2. Place the form in "Prepare Form" mode by selecting "Prepare Form" tool.

3. Do you see any form fields highlighted in this mode?

4. If you do see any, right click on the form field and select properties.

5.  Is the "locked" checkbox turned on ?

Please explain in detail what you mean by "Not Working".  And what is your "Documents Setup"?

When I click into the form fields to add content they field do not allow

the cursor the input a prompt.

The fields are frozen like 'dead'. Something is not right. Happening on two

different subscriptions.

Can you open it and fill in fields in Reader?  Is it a specific document, or are other forms having the same issue?

You say two subscriptions. So two people in your office on two different systems cannot fill in this form.  Can someone else in your office fill in the exact same form?

What I'm getting at is this: Can you narrow the issue down so we can be sure it is with either the Acrobat Application on specific systems? or is it the specific file that is having the problem?

just one, but all of them. Never seen this before. Another in my office has

a separate subscription and is having the same problem. What do you think

is going on? - Tim

You didn't answer the questions. I'll tell you what I think after you have provided complete information.

Can you open the same file in Reader and fill in the fields?

Can someone else open the form in Acrobat or Reader and fill in the fields?

We need to know if there is a problem with the PDF form.

No, fields are frozen in all applications. Is that an isolated incident? I

do not have just Reader.

Dear Thom Parker,

I had a similar issue too!  Your solution above worked, but I had to do a couple extra steps.   Right click on any field in "Prepare Form" mode and select "select all" in the right-click menu.  Once all the forms are selected, right-click on one and go to "properties." In the properties menu, uncheck "locked" AND also uncheck "read only."  I had to do BOTH for the form to be fillable again.

Once back in regular view (not Prepare Form), all the fields should be fillable again.  This is most definitely a bug.  I experienced the bug after saving the editable PDF (not for the first time...just a routine Ctrl + S) using Adobe Acrobat Pro DC version 2018.009.20050.  For some reason, the form simply stopped being fillable after saving.

Those field parameters don't get set out of nowhere.  It's likely a script or something else is interfering with the save.
