FormsCentral - How do I make a multiple choice field open new text areas?

Hello everyone,

I am a newbie to Forms Central and need help on following problem:

I want to prepare a form, where people will habe several options to choose, e.g. as a multiple choice field. For example:

1. Apples

2. Bananas

3. Pears

4...

Now, when a user chooses Apples and Pears, I want specific text fields to appear, e.g.

1. Apples

--Begin text field 1--

Question: Describe your favourite apples

[Room for answer]

--End Text field 1---

--Begin text field 2---

Question: How many apples have you eaten last week?

[Room for answer]

--End Text field 2---

3. Pears

--Begin text field 3--

Question: Describe your favourite pears

[Room for answer]

--End Text field 3---

--Begin text field 4---

Question: How many pears have you eaten last week?

[Room for answer]

--End Text field 4---

And so on. For all multiple choices, specified questions shall be predefined, but visible only when this field has been chosen. Than, the form must be possible to print.

Is this solution possible with Acrobat XI Pro? If yes, I would be thankful for any help. If not, is there any other software I could use for that? My forms are of course not about fruit and quite time-consuming, thus I have to know they will work before I implement them 😉

Best regards,

Anna

Forms Central is dead. Don't waste your time trying to learn it.

You should develop your forms in Acrobat. Create the layout in something like Word or InDesign and then convert the file to a static PDF and add the form fields in Acrobat.

What you're asking for is possible, but requires either creating everything in advance and then showing/hiding it based on the selection in the first question, or using a very complex set of fields to generate it dynamically. PDF forms are not really suited for it, to be honest.

Hi,

thanks for your quick answer. That sounds rather complicated. Do you have any ideas which software could do? I have some basic knowledge on programming.

Best regards,

Anna

I might have been too rush to rule out PDF. If set up correctly, it should be possible to do, but it requires some scripting.

If you're interested I could develop it for you (for a small fee). You can contact me privately via try6767 at gmail.com, to discuss it further.
