Go to Previous View button works in Acrobat but not in browser PDF viewers

Hi all!

I have recently discovered that a button set to "Go to Previous View"(created in ID and exported into an interactive PDF), which works just fine when viewing a downloaded PDF, does not work at all when viewing the same PDF in a browser viewer. Does anyone know how to create a workaround for this (i.e., something to add into the PDF "code") that does not involve asking the reader to disable their browser viewer and set a new default app, or instructing them to download the file? Basically, is there a way to get such a command to work whether the viewer is external OR the browser window? Thanks, in advance, for your help with this.

Hope you are doing well and sorry for the trouble. As described the go to previous view button works fine in Adobe Acrobat but not in browser PDF viewers

Web browsers use their own PDF mechanism to render and display the PDF files and they are not Adobe dependent. It is ideally recommended to download the PDF file to the computer and then open it Adobe Acrobat/Reader DC application.

Thank you for letting me know. It does seem that it would be best to have every user download the file and NOT view it in the browser. I will explore the options indicated in the link provided by JR Boulay below. Or, we will simply have a dysfunctional button in the browser. It's in discussion now.

A browser is a HTML viewer.

Will you expect a "Previous" button in a HTML page to work fine in a PDF viewer?
