Hi.
I'm new to using Adobe Acrobat. I've just donwloaded Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro and I'm trying to delete a sentence from a document. I've managed to draw a box around the text but I'm pressing the delete key and the backspace key but it won't delete the text, just the box. I'm using Windows Vista.
Hope you can help me with this.
Rachel

Acrobat is not a text editor. You can delete text using the redaction tool,
but that will not cause the rest of the text to move "into place", like when
you use Word, for example.
The best way is to edit the original file and then re-create the PDF.

Hi.
Thanks for your reply.
Could you suggest how to re-create the pdf please?

Do you have the original file that was used to create the PDF?

It was letter sent to me and I scanned it on to my laptop.

In that case there's nothing much to do. You can use the redaction tool, or
try the text touch-up tool, but don't expect much.

I don't seem to be having much luck with the touch up tool. I've drawn a box around the text but I can't change the text at all.

Did you OCR the file? If not, then you don't have "real" text, just an image
containing text.

When I use the OCR the logo doesn't get recognised and looks nothing like it should do. Also the layout of the document changes.

So you have no option but to use the redaction tool.

Could you explain how I use this tool please? I have tried to delete the text but it doesn't seem to be working.
