Thanks a TON, Steve!  The multiple new windows have been micro-annoyances for years.

Bonus: How to remove the right hand UI "tools" window pane
1 Bring up preferences with CTLR-K
2 choose Documents
3 Check the box: "Remember curent state of Tools Pane"
4 OK

5 Next time you open a doc and then close the right hand Tools pane, it should come up closed in future docs.

Thanks, again, Steve!

Thanks, @jane-e . There was a post on uservoice that I commented on to help encourage this.

Agree 100% that this needs an option to turn off at the user level. So annoying.

Sorry, none of the "correct answers" are correct. The way it works is that I open a document that has no bookmakrs, but the empty bookmarks window pops up and takes 1/3 of my screen. I need to click on it to close for every document I open. What a shame!

Bookmarks only open if they are stored in the document. To get rid of them, right click the file in your file browser > Open with > Google Chrome. In Chrome, click 'print' and then 'Save as PDF'. This saves it as a plain PDF without bookmarks.

That is a very convoluted way to get rid of bookmarks if you have Acrobat. Just open the Bookmarks panel, select all, click Delete.

@SMU67 printing a document without bookmarks, is unessary duplication.

Just because a document has bookmarks, it does not mean I want to see them when a document is being opened. It should be user's decision and there should be an on/off switch....
This product is missing this functionality and the Product owner needs to review it.

I had originally asked about bookmarks in AutoCAD, a friend helped me with the plotting config. by using ADOBE PDF printer settings, the bookmarks and many notes driven by Fonts are left off.

I had been using the AutoCAD settings thinking that they were better and clearer (they are) but killing off unessary info cleans up the plot and makes life easier for everybody.

I found a solution that worked for me on the latest MacOS.

Go to View in the top menu bar and click "Disable new Acrobat Reader".

It will revert to an older UI design, which honestly I prefer and it wont open the bookmarks any longer

Actually, disregard my last message. It is not 100% accurate. Adding more info

It still does open bookmarks, but since it's about 60% smaller than in the new UI I didn't even notice. Also, it's on the left side of the new UI. Still highly recommend this as it doesn't cover the document if the window size is smaller like it does on the new UI
