I was sent a document from someone else that contained highlights. I have Acrobat Adobe DC pro. I have tried and read everything I could find on the internet for a solution. None worked. Any suggestions?

Maybe the highlights have been made a permanent part of the file, so they cannot be deleted. What have you tried? Please be detailed, we can't look over your shoulder.

If that's the case you might still be able to delete them (one at a time) using the Edit Text & Images tool, but yes, without seeing the actual file it's very hard to say for sure.

What do you see when you open the Comment panel? Is there anything there?

looks like you have a flattened comment. You should be able to remove it with the Edit PDF tools. Just select it and press "Delete".

So I tried using the delete function and first the text that I highlighted deleted but the highlight itself remained. Then I pressed delete again and the highlight deleted. Crazy. Thank you for your help.

The two objects are on top of one another so selection is not easy. In these case I'll usually move the first selected item over, so the other can be positively identified and selected.

Sorry. I have tried using the suggestions listed on the Adobe support page. Namely, clicking on the highlighted text and a blue box appears around the text but no tool box icon pops up with a trash symbol. I also tried clicking on Comments in the tool box and then clicking on the text but that didn't generate anything. I also tried doing it by using the edit PDF feature but that didn't provide a solution.
