How do I stop a pdf file downloading straight into Downloads folder. I want to select the folder.

I have just downloaded Adobe Acrobat reader v 2019.012.20040. When I download a .pdf file, it goes straight into the Downloads folder, whereas I want to choose the correct folder for it.

No, this is not the solution. I have worked out that if you double click on the pdf image it will automatically download. If you single click, it will allow you to select a folder but it shows the file as an AVG HTML document, and you have to select All files to save as a pdf. There is some inconsistency with AVG antivirus here.

It's still a setting with your browser and has absolutely nothing to do with an Adobe product.

Could be, but the issue is which settings in the Chrome browser are affecting this? Why is it not saving as an Adobe pdf but is being treated as an AVG HTML document?

OK, the solution I have found is to uninstall AVG Secure brower. Now when I single click, it saves as an Adobe .pdf. I have alerted AVG to this issue.

In fact Adobe has a problem. Even single clicking on the pdf image sometimes sends the file straight into the Downloads folder. If you precreate a folder, then every time you should be able to manually select this folder instead of the Downloads folder to save having to trawl through your directory each time.
