Advisor ,
Apr 15, 2013 Apr 15, 2013

Hi, I have a PDF of a book (200 pages) that I need to add cut marks, color bars to for offset printing.

Can't figure out how to open the PDF in Acrobat and add the Marks Bleeds.

The PDF was saved in Word.

Please advise...

The crop, bleed, and trim boxes are all the same size. The crop box is defined in the Crop Box dialog box (choose Tools > Print Production > Set Page Boxes). If the artwork contains a bleed, make sure that the crop box is big enough to accommodate the bleed box and other printer marks.

Once it is done, please follow the steps to embed the printer marks in PDF

Choose Tools > Print Production > Add Printer Marks.

Specify the pages to mark.

Specify the marks and settings.

Thanks

Do you have the Standard version or the Pro version of Adobe Acrobat? It's likely it's only available in the latter.

Hi,

I tried this but it cropped the artwork to the size without the bleed and then put crop marks on the corners. So basically there was no bleed left. What might I be doing wrong?

Hello Sarahw,

Sorry for the delayed response and inconvenience caused. Can you let us know more about what’s happening? Are there any specific error codes or messages after setting the Page boxes and adding the printer marks in Print Production?

What is the dot version of Acrobat installed? To identify refer to the Adobe article Identify the product and its version for Acrobat and Reader DC

Make sure that you have the latest version of Acrobat installed, check for any pending updates from help>check for updates, reboot the machine after installing any updates.

Have you tried with other PDF files? If not, please try and see if this issue is reproducible? Is it specific to one PDF?

Is it a Mac or Windows machine?

We’re here to help, just need more info.

Regards,

Anand Sri.

That doesn't answer my question. Open Acrobat and then go to Help - About. What does it say there? What exact version do you have?
