How to put form fields in a header or footer

Explorer ,
May 11, 2020 May 11, 2020

Hi everyone,

A client wants me to make a contract into a fillable form. Two of the form fields are Project Number and Contract Number.

Once the user fills in those two fields, the client would like the project number and contract number to appear in the header of every page. Two questions:

  1. I don't see a way to put form fields in the header. Does anyone know of a way to do that? Just wondering if I missed it.
  2. If it's not possible (as I suspect), does anyone know of a way to make content repeat on every page? For example, can I create a field and set it to repeat at the top of every page?

Thanks for any ideas or suggestions!

Kathryn

Well, in the true spirit of Murphy's Law, I think I found a way to do this after I posted 🙂

Apparently I can duplicate the original field (e.g., Project number) across pages and even have it display the user's input from the original field. I just need to drag the duplicated field to the proper position in the header. Of course it won't really be in the header, but it will look like it is and the user won't know the difference.

There's no such thing as a "header" in PDF files. If something looks like it's in the header, it is...

"I just need to drag the duplicated field to the proper position in the header"

Create the two fields on the first page, select them, right-clic and choose: Duplicate Across Pages.

So they will stay exactly at the same place upon all pages.
