how to save and send "SECURE" signed PDF as an attachment

New Here ,
Dec 29, 2023 Dec 29, 2023

Does anyone know how to send a SECURE signed PDF document as an email attachment? By SECURE, I mean my digital signature is certified by Adobe--will have "SECURE" added to the filename automatically. I can't for the life of me find a way to save it anywhere. The only saved version is the unlocked signed file that is not certified by Adobe.

To preempt solutions/replies that are unrelated, I am the only signer. I did not generate the form. No one else needs to sign. I can't send back to the organization that needs my signed form as a link since they do not have access to my secure folder where this form is being saved. There is not another way to send the form back to them, which is common in my experience. I can digintally sign on my corporate account and send as an email attachment to anyone, but I have to do this on my personal account this time.

Thanks in advance,

Melissa

I've moved your post from Using the Community (for questions about the forums) to Adobe Acrobat and edited your post to add the Security topic for you.

How did you sign the document? Locally on your computer using your own key and certificate? Remotely using a service like Adobe Acrobat Sign or Docusign? Some other option?

From where did you open the signed file? Was it in your pdf signing program? Was it from a mail? From a web site? Which exactly?

In which program do you view the signed pdf? Adobe Acrobat [Reader]? Foxit? Some web component? Something else?

Hi Mikel, the form was not fillable on the secure portal provided by the organization, so I had to download onto my computer, which I believe means I had to use my own key and certificate. The organization's instruction was to then send the signed form back as an attachment on their secure portal (SEFT site).

The file was opened on my computer within Adobe Acrobat Reader, which allows me to digitally sign the document using the Adobe digital signature function. I received the Adobe certification "ribbon" across the top of the document upon signing, and the filename automatically changed to have "SECURE" added, but my only option from there seemed to be to send to someone else to sign. I did attempt to save so that I could just close and attach /upload, but the only saved version that I could find in my folders was the pre-certified version that was not locked and awaiting additional signatures.

I don't know if these additional details clarified anything, but I do deeply appreciate your help.

That sounds like you used Adobe Acrobat Sign from your Acrobat Reader. Unfortunately I have no real experience with that kind of signing.

@Melissa345132323mwm

I just read your message again. The way I've solved it when presented with the link option is to send it to myself (through the link) at another of my email addresses so I have a copy of the signed document on my computer and can then send it as an attachment to the intended recipient.

It might defeat the purpose of not having the document pass through human hands, but some of my recipients cannot open the link that Adobe sends.

@MELISSA34521723pxes  and  @Melissa345132323mwm

Are we talking to two users or one user with two Adobe IDs?

Does my method help at all?

I have to get on my personal computer to try it (currently on my work computer)...haven't had a chance. Only my signature is required on the form--thus I'm the only Adobe user using my personal Adobe account. I have no idea who on the other end at the organization receives the form that I signed but it presumably is not the person who generated the Adobe form.
