How to select form fields and text together

New Here ,
Apr 08, 2021 Apr 08, 2021

I must be missing something simple - I want to move Text and Form fields around the page together, but I can't see an option that allows me to select both simultaneously. What option am I missing?

Thanks

These exist in different worlds and must be edited in entirely different tools. Generally, editing the regular text is unwise, it is better to make it in a better editor.

I moved text fields and form fields together a few days ago but I do not remember how I did it!  I found instructions somewhere in the Adobe Community. It is EASY when you know how to do it! Very frustrating!

To elaborate a bit further, form fields are essentially placed on top of the content in the PDF file. So they exist on different layers or "in different worlds" as Test Screen Name mentions. You need to edit form fields using the Prepare Form tool and text using the Edit PDF tool.

Sureley if I want to move a block like the above down, it should be possible to do? Heck in my 2003 version of FormMax it was possible 🙂

Really no. I really suggest you don't try to make or edit the form background text in Acrobat, that way leads to nothing but pain.

Acrobat isn't a great form tool. But it's the only game in town for adding form fields to a PDF that you've ALREADY MADE.

You can… You just need to move each different element using a different tool.

This is possible when all objects are form fields.

This would make the program intuitive and far easier... I don't accept that they live in "2 different worlds". And? I have my ChatGPT set to speak to me like Donkey from Shrek and Acrobat can't declunkify the interface by making two layers bind some of their elements? Psh. No, make a change to text at the top of your multipage form and watch 30 fields get hosed.

Hi there,

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. I completely understand your frustration, having to manage design or form elements separately can definitely feel unintuitive, especially when you’re trying to make quick changes across multiple fields.

I’d recommend adding your suggestion directly to our Adobe Acrobat UserVoice/Feedback page where the product team actively reviews requests for future updates. Here’s the link: https://adobe.ly/46hlD7k
