How to split a single-page PDF into multiple pages in Acrobat Pro?

Explorador ,
Jul 14, 2020 Jul 14, 2020

I used Safari to save the info on a website as a PDF, but Safari saved all the info as a SINGLE page. I would have guessed it would save as 5-6 pages.

How do we split one page into many pages? I've searched the documentation but haven't found a way to do it.

Thank you.

This does not answer their question. They have a PDF with a SINGLE page which they want to split into multiple pages. The Extract Pages command doesn't do that. To do it would require duplicating the page and deleting different parts of it on each copy. This can be done manually or by using a script. There's no built-in command in Acrobat that does it.

Hey there,

Edited response:

Thanks for reaching out. What you are looking for, is creating multiple file from a webpage that was converted to single page PDF. This is something can not be achievable.

Acrobat DC's organize Pages feature helps you to extract pages as separate file from a multiple PDF file. How exactly it works? For that you may go through the detailed steps given here:

https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/how-to/organize-add-delete-pages-pdf.html

Hope this help!

Thanks,

Akanchha

Hi, Akanchha. I have Acrobat Pro, and do sometimes use it to extract pages. The problem with my file is that it's ONE page long (as if it were a sheet of paper two meters long). There are no pages to extract.

So what I'm really looking for is a way to turn one page into many pages. Like some way to tell Acrobat "Go down 8.5 inches and turn that into a page, then go down another 8.5 and turn THAT into a second page ... and keep doing that until you can't do it any more."

If you know how to do that, please let me know!

I think my low-tech workaround is going to be to get the one-page epic PDF (that I downloaded via Safari, which encoded about 12 pages as a single page PDF) onscreen in a readable size, then take screenshots.

I can then drag all the screenshots into Acrobat as JPGs, after choosing Create>Combine Files into a Single PDF. And then clicking on Combine, saving it, etc.

That's the only solution I can think of that wouldn't require me to learn scripting (or beg (pointlessly) Adobe to add some functionality/editing options to overcome this kind of problem).

Low tech...yes. But if you choose a raster solution you can work directly in Photoshop and you'll probably face more quality.

I'm searching for the exact same thing, to convert a very long (tall, not wide) PDF into multiple 8.5"x11" pages PDF.

I was trying to do the same thing for far too long on Acrobat Pro today.  Try File > Ceate > PDF from Selection Capture.  It worked for my purposes.

This is a workaround, but as others have siad, splitting a SINGLE PAGE .pdf into multiple pages is not possible. If, however, you want to PRINT the single page .pdf as multiple pages, you can do that. When you Print, Sekect 'Poster' in the Page Size & Handling section, and then adjust your tile scale until you get the approximate number of pages you want. Then, just press print and you should be in business. Not perfect, but it will may get the job done. Good luck.

It's possible to do it, even with a single-page file, using a script.

A bit late, but I was looking for the same feature. PDF XChange Editor has a wonderful Split Pages feature that allows you to choose a page size, then customize the cut points before splitting the long pdf. This means you can prevent cutting a line of text or image in half. Arbitrary cut points are a side effect of printing to PDF. I wish Acrobat had a similar Split Pages feature.

I would really like Adobe to fix this. I get site maps for Expo halls that come as large single page PDFs. Right now I have to import them into a drafting program and re-export as separate pages I have to divide. I often have to do this with drawings I am sent as PDFs as well. I just wish there was a simple way to do this inside Acrobat.  Anyone have any other ideas for how to pull this off?

MÁS RECIENTES

I also have this issue of my PDF being long and narrow.   The map has road names but too small to read.   Also the processor on my modern Pixal 8a phone takes awhile to refocus each time I pan or zoom.    What can be done?  Attached is my 4 MB pdf map
