Hyperlinks displaying differently in PDF viewers

I am using Adobe Acrobat 2020 to add hyperlinks to a document. I'm having an issue with the appearance of the hyperlinks looking differently in various PDF viewers:

Acrobat: blue underlines (what I am adding manually)

Mac preview: blue boxes around links

Chrome PDF viewer: no visible markings, so you only know there's a link by hovering and seeing the cursor change to the hand

Is there anything I can do in Acrobat (or outside Acrobat) to get the same appearance for the links across viewers? Thanks!

Unlikely. These PDF viewers are known to be problematic and we get daily reports about them working incorrectly.

You can report the issue to their developers (Apple and Google, resp.), but that's about it.
