I have the .tmp file but Acrobat isn't prompting to restore when opening

Hi there,

Is there a way to get Acrobat to restore a .tmp file?  It keeps crashing on startup and I get the spinning wheel of death before I can choose the restore option so I thought I could maybe move the files to another users computer and pop the autosave .tmp file in the correct location but this hasn't worked.  Is there some other way to force acrobat to recognize the .tmp file?

Never heard of any way to do that.

Open the file in a text editor. What does the first line say?

It has

%PDFUpdate-1.6

The next two lines (in case they help) are

%‚„œ”

I believe it's some kind of incremental update file of an existing PDF, but I don't know how you can force the application to use it...

If you move that file from the temp folder, does Acrobat open correctly? What happens if you then open the original file?

If I open the file with nothing in Autosave it still crashes but without asking if I want to restore. I ended up trashing the .plist file to open any document but perhaps it broke the link as I lost the changes, even after putting the .tmp file back in the Autosave folder.

I did this and it looks like gibberish. Does this mean anything to you?
