Version 2023.003.20201 is absolutely terrible!! Who decided to change the UX and UI of this app? It was perfectly fine. Now it's unusable. How does one go back a version? I should have turned off my auto-updates. This is a very dissapointing update in every possible way. Would love some info on my request. Thank you.

I want to thank Kodak for helping me, they gave me instructions how to remove the current version and links to last years version. This version broke multiple plug-ins and so many other issues with how it ran. I cant even use any Plug ins with a 4k monitor since over a year ago. At least last year the Plug ins would run on Non 4 K monitors. Adobe needs to be more aware of what the users needs are and work with companies like Kodak that have Prepress plug ins that are for printing. Adobe, let us know when this is fixed.

Too many changes made all at once, and not good ones. You made it so difficult to do basic editing, the font editing is bad, everything is bad. Options burried three levels deep into other options. I used to use Adobe in addition to other PDF editors because I found it to be very good at doing certain thingss, but I may just need to use a different PDF editor altoghether now that it takes me 30 minutes to figure out how to do one simple thing. Whoever rolled out this update should be let go.

Completely agree. I want to thank the user who posted how to revert back. The new interface is absolute garbage

Agreed, this new version also does not work well on older Macs. I am on a 2017 Macbook Pro and it often stops responding and I just get the spinning 'beach ball' of doom whenever attempting the most basic of functions like zooming in! The older version worked perfectly fine. If it isn't broke don't fix it Adobe!

For the Adobe Acrobat designing team -
I cannot express the frustration and my honest attempt to use the new interface, but it's simply not practical. If so many users have a very similar experience then I think the vote is clear. Also, as a side note but an important one...have you ever heard, "Don't fix what's not broken!"

We may have a different opinion about this. I, personally, find the new UI very appealing. You can revert to the old UI for now if you have trouble.

Thank you for the in-depth Adobe justification for the updates created for the UI. Now, kindly explain why the "Disable New Acrobat" is NOT reverting back to the former UI as promised.

So glad I am not the only one. My receptionist has this new god awful version. She can't even compile documents without it crash. Cant convert images without it auto opening the edit mode which then justs distorts and RUINS the entire image.
Mine update, but thankfully not to this horrible version.
I just want to know why we are getting charged so much more for "all these new and exciting" features when all it has done is tripled my work. If I wanted to go back behind my receptionist to fix documents, I wouldn't have hired one in the first place.
This update is EXTREMELY frustrating and Adobe isn't going to do anything about it. I want to know who on the developmental team decided to switch the side panels completely and make it even less user friendly. Everything is crowded, moved, or just missing. I shouldn't have to spend a day, nor should anyone, relearning a program that had zero reason to need an update. Instead of making it even easier to use, they went and made it impossible.
It's like they know they're the leading company in PDF reader and are trying to see how far they can push customers to hate the product and still charge them an arm and a leg.

Try this... hold down your shift key and select "Disable New Acrobat" and keep holding it down while it restarts. Mine opened back up with the previous UI and kept the previous UI when I closed it normally and restarted (just to test it). Spread the word!

That worked great! Thank you for sharing this. For others reading this thread the "Disable New Acrobat" is under the "View" drop-down menu. I held down the Disable New Acrobat for about 10 seconds and it didn't restart until after I stopped holding down that selection.

I'm through this with so much frustration. I cannot revert back to the old version even when I try the fix described. Did you ever figure it out? I'm desperate to know how to get rid of this newer Reader. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I've got 13 offices trained on Adobe which has generally been the same and worked well for years. Now no one can do what we need to and it's god awful. Who at your company needed to prove their job was valuable and decided to do so by messing up something that has worked well for years? This is insane that you made all these changes I don't even know what to do now. I hate you for doing this to us.

You can revert to the classic GUI interface by following the instructions here for both Mac and Windows:
And be sure to voice your opinion to Adobe's engineers (and vote) at the UserVoice page for this, https://acrobat.uservoice.com/forums/590923-acrobat-for-windows-and-mac/suggestions/47082691-ditch-t...

You have definitely reduced clutter... but at great expense.
What was once a click away is now multiple clicks.
What was easily customizable to suit user needs is now locked in.
Simply stating the UI is intuitive doesn't make it so. Listen to the feedback instead of dismissing it.

Thanks for your detailed explanations.
I honestly experimented the new UI. I don't understand why the bookmarks panel, the tools panel, the page numbers were all moved around the screen. Why couldn't I see the zoom %? Why are the bookmarks and tools panels so wide and the document window shrunken?
So I reverted to the classic UI. I never hav=d a

Sorry for the glitch and the incomplete message
Thanks to Anan Sri for his detailed explanations.
I honestly experimented the new UI. I understand the desire to improve Acrobat but I don't understand why the bookmarks panel, the tools panel, the page numbers were all moved around the screen. Why couldn't I see the zoom %? Why also are the bookmarks and tools panels so wide and the document window shrunken?
So I reverted to the classic UI. I never had a problem to edit, comment, sign, etc a document before. Of course everyone needs some time to find the tools and learn how to use them on a new app. But why force old users to start it all over?
I hope the classic UI will be always available. By the way the new and the old UI are both much slower than the previous version with only one UI, with the infamous blue spinning circle and the "not responding" notification appearing very often.
All this reminds me of the Microsoft new OneNote flop. Fortunately the old one was still available after some research. After years of negative comments by users, MS has finally recognized its mistake and reverted to the old version.

I agree this is a terrible update. I swear people who make these updates don't actually use the product. Please go back! It is so clunky to use now.

Yes, Adobe has a twisted since of humor. They do this all the time. "Let's move EVERYTHING so our users have to relearn where we put things all over again! That's a great idea, they'll love it!

The new interface is TERRIBLE!! Why in Gods name would you swap the tools to opposite sides of the app???!?!?! Ridiculous.. this feels like it was designed by someone who doesn't use the Acrobat in a fast paced design/printing environment! We are actually exporing other PDF options because this has thrown glue on our entire workflow.. so disapointed in Adobe for allowing this to be released like this.. At least InDesign has a option for legacy interfaces, why not add that to every Adobe app? It's like Adobe has lost touch with the people who use their products.
