Install Acrobat DC on a machine that already has Acrobat XI on it?

Can both Acrobat DC and Acrobat XI exist on the same computer? I don't want to uninstall XI before I install DC in case there are problems with DC on my machine?

some people have trouble, but acrobat dc is supposed to coexist with earlier versions.

to be sure, you should be prepared to uninstall both and reinstall whichever you want to keep.

If I do install DC without uninstalling XI first, what happens to those handy plugins for Outlook, MS Office, and browsers? Will I have  two plugins for each app, or will the installation of DC along side XI screw things up? Thanks.

the dc install is not supposed to screw up your xi installation/plugins etc, but some people have trouble.

to be sure, you should be prepared to uninstall both and reinstall acrobat xi if you're unhappy with your dc trial or the trial won't install/work because of the xi installation.

Although Adobe does claim that you can have both Acrobat 11 and DC concurrently installed, in practice it only works for the PDF viewing capabilities.

The fact is that in terms of the PDFMaker plug-ins, the browser plug-ins, and the Adobe PDF PostScript printer driver instance, only those for one of the versions can be installed and active at a time and which you get depends on what was installed last.

Dov-That makes sense. Always seemed to me the two versions might share common, or modified, components. And I recalling uninstalling X before I installed XI. The IT Mgr where I work advised the double install in case DC fails; I'm sure he was trusting the Adobe claim of concurrency. Question: I'm on Win7Pro - any reports of DC trouble on that opsys? Thank you.

I have Acrobat DC on a number of Windows 7 Pro x64 systems here at Adobe and at home with no problems whatsoever!

what still might work = parallel installation of the 32-bit-version of Adobe Reader and older (full) Acrobat versions. full offline installer download availabe: https://get.adobe.com/de/reader/otherversions/
