I use Adobe Acrobat Pro 2017 fairly often and want to upgrade to MacOS Monterey. I am looking to find out if they are compatible. I've done some searching, including on the adobe site and have not found anything one way or the other for this software program. Can anyone help?
I posted this question in another forum and could not see a way to delete it or move it here, which seems like the better location. I am sorry for the duplication and am happy to remove it from the other topic if someone can tell me how.
Thank you!

Acrobat 2017 is supported by Big Sur. Stick with that for now.

Adobe won't be testing it, I imagine. If Acrobat needs an update, it will be DC and 2020 that get it. But it's way too early to be upgrading to Monterey if you have work to do...

I understand that Adobe won't test it. Is there a way/forum/group that I can ask current users if they have upgraded to Monterey and is working?
Thank you

Why don't you ask Macworld or Apple's support community?

Hello Pam5EBO
Thank you for taking the time to let me know. I'm sorry to learn this. I know my organization won't be jumping to buy the next Adobe product at this time so I won't be able to upgrade.
Have a great weekend,
Michelle

What was wrong with the answer I gave you there?

Based on anecdotal evidence so far for other apps, I would hold off on Monterey until a few point releases in.
If you feel you really want to give it a go, I suggest you go to a dual boot situation and install on a separate drive/partition so you can do some playing around before you commit to converting your existing system.

The System Requirements page for 2017 says it is supported on MacOS 12. I might be able to determine if that's true if I could complete the migration from an Intel MacBook Pro to an M1Max. Perhaps someone can help. My story:
I bought Adobe Acrobat Pro 2017 in July 2018, for about $600 CDN. In 2020 I swapped the version from Windows to Mac, with the perpetual license (non-CC) version. It was an arduous process but we finally got it worked out.
Just recently I upgraded my 2019 MacBook Pro to the 2021 MacBook Pro M1Max. When I tried to open Acrobat I got a “Sign In Required” notice. When I clicked on the “Sign In Now” button I got an “Acrobat Licensing Application” dialogue box, which was completely blank, so I could not proceed.
I searched the Adobe Community, and saw that this has been experienced by others, and tried the various solutions: couldn’t use the Creative Cloud Cleaner as not on CC; deleting the OOBE folder, nope; using the sudo command, nope; uninstalling everything and re-installing, nope; nothing seems to work.
I was told by someone here that I should go to the Specialists Adobe address and they would help me. So I contacted them, and they told me that:
“2017 is too old and no longer available and supported with Mac OS Monterey and Secondly Acrobat Pro 2017 servers have been shut down. So, we can do is we provide you the Acrobat Pro 2020 Perpetual License. So, you can able to start your work in a proper way.”
They then told me:
“Acrobat Pro 2020 will be after all the discounts US$399.99 including lifetime warranty. First we have to Generate the invoice for Acrobat Pro 2020. Meanwhile kindly provide your Full Name, Email ID, Phone Number, Address and Area Postal Code?”
I smelled a rat. I’ve looked at the Adobe site, and they are still showing 2017 available for download. 2017 does not appear in the list of obsolete software. Someone then gave me the link to the Adobe support page, where I had to go through the madness-inducing routine of trying to get an AI to understand the problem. Finally I got through to a purportedly real human being, but no less madness-inducing (I guess this means that AI can now mimic a person quite well).
After I explained the issue and provided my license key, the tech sent me a script to follow, with random words apparently missing, which ended with “launch the CC App”. I explained what he should have known, that I was not using Creative Cloud. So we moved on to a remote session, which hung up on this:
“Please open system preference. Click on lock icon. Then select Accessibility and then select Remote support. After accessibility, select screen sharing or screen recording to select remote session.”
Of course there is no lock icon on the System Preferences screen. I selected Accessibility anyway, and there was no such thing as “Remote Support”. I wondered if he meant I should go to Security & Privacy (I know there are padlocks there), but there was nothing there resembling his instructions. I tried to get him to explain with steps that actually matched what appeared on my screen, but he seemed to have wandered off somewhere, so I just gave up.
This appears to be typical of other people’s experiences as far as I can tell. I continue to be unimpressed with Adobe support, which needs a real shake-up. I paid $600 for this product, and Adobe must make a pile from their subscriptions for the umpteen products they sell. Maybe they need to spend a little more on Support.
So, my question is: what do I do now? The community suggestions don't seem to be working, and Adobe Support is akin to sticking needles in your eye. A general rule should be "if Support offers you a "chat" session, run away".
Arghhh! Help...
NOTE: I see that the Specialists Adobe address I quoted in this post has been flagged as a scam address, so that answers that question. One wonders why Adobe can't scour the entire community, removing the address everywhere, as I came across it in an old post.

Forgot to mention: I upgraded my 2019 MacBook Pro to Monterey just prior to migrating to the 2021 MacBook Pro, and I'm running Acrobat Pro 2017 on the 2019 MacBook just fine so far. Mind you, there are many features I don't use, so it's not a thorough test.

The one detail you missed is that the Acrobat 2017 Hardware requirements specify Intel CPU, so for an M1 Mac, it will need to use Rosetta 2. And, should you get that going successfully, that will be it. It will never run natively, so it will always be hobbled in some way going forward.
based on similar searches, I've also seen the same reports about the sign-in hanging on a blank dialog, but I don't have an answer for you for that as I'm well past 2017 apps to even test it. Sorry!

Hi Brad. Thanks for pointing that out. It is the first item in the requirements list, but I cleverly missed it. I'm thinking that what I will do is what I've been doing for the last few days so that I can get my work done: run Acrobat Pro 2017 on my older Intel-based MacBook Pro and just use AirDrop to fling the documents back and forth. For just viewing, the Preview app works just fine.
Thanks again, John

Did anyone ever get Adobe Acrobat Pro 2017 running on an M1 Mac using Rosetta? Thanks!
