Launch APP CAMERA from PDF

New Here ,
Aug 07, 2025 Aug 07, 2025

Hi everyone, sorry for my bad english.

I'm using a specific form everyday at job with ACROBAT PRO to collect some datas.

I spend too much time to complete it and take photos to go with.

Actually, I would like to link a button to a script that launches an specific APP like the native microsoft camera (or else) to save some time.

The idea is to save some time to attach my form and some photos to make a complete report and save it in my folders.

Is this possible ?

(Obviously, the perfect thing for me would be to get a button that launch camera and attach the image by itself inside the pdf, but i think ACROBAT cannot do this at this time.)

Best regards,

Ben

ps : i'm using surface pro X, W11

Hi Ben,

Thanks for reaching out.
Using a script to launch an app is a security issue. We don't have any suggestions, wait for input from others.

If the goal is to capture an image from the device camera inside a desktop PDF workflow, consider:

  • Building a companion application (outside Acrobat) that:

    • Launches the camera.

    • Saves an image to a known location.

    • Let you attach it manually or with a plugin.

  • Or hosting a web interface where you:

    • Takes the picture with your webcam.

    • Gets a PDF or image in return to insert manually.

In short, no. You can't force the button to open the camera app, or any other app on the machine. That would be a huge security risk.
